UPS Foundation Awards $15,000
Portland, OR — Junior Achievement of Oregon and SW Washington received a $15,000 grant from the UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS (NYSE:UPS).
The grant will be used toward providing students with JA BizTown, a program that blends 12 hours of classroom learning with a one-day economic simulation within a replica of an American City. The program teaches work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and served nearly 13,000 upper elementary students this school year.
"We are proud to have UPS as a long-standing partner in providing students essential skills that will help them succeed in the global economy" said John Hancock, President of Junior Achievement of Oregon and SW Washington.
In 2017, UPS and its employees, active and retired, invested more than $118 million in charitable giving around the world. The UPS Foundation focuses on the areas of volunteerism, diversity, community safety and the environment.
"The UPS Foundation is honored to support Junior Achievement of Oregon and SW Washington’s efforts to inspire and prepare students for the global economy," said Eduardo Martinez, President of the UPS Foundation and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at UPS. "Our goal is to fund powerful programs that make a lasting difference to the global community."
