Volunteer Resources

Thank you for volunteering to assist with the JA Finance Park program! Each volunteer will help students build a foundation for making intelligent, lifelong, personal financial decisions by coaching a small group of students through the process of developing a budget. To ensure a successful visit, we need 10-20 volunteers daily to provide guidance to students during the 4.5-hour simulation.

About Volunteering

JA Finance Park is a one-day volunteer opportunity to help middle and high school students complete an immersive personal financial simulation. Before the students arrive to JA Finance Park, they take part in classroom preparation learning about budgeting and personal finance. When students arrive at JA Finance Park, they are given an iPad with a fictitious personal profile that includes details relating to their simulated family, educational background, career and income-level. With that information, they have to create a budget and see if they can stick to it.

Volunteers will be assigned to a group of about 6-8 students and will work with those same students throughout the day and encourage them to make personal financial and lifestyle choices. No matter your profession, your life experiences qualify you to be a successful volunteer. Volunteers will arrive 90 minutes before the students for a JA led training and will be provided with all the tools they will need to be successful. All volunteers are required to fill out a Volunteer Registration Form and sign the Volunteer Conduct and Digital Media Forms.

Volunteer PreTraining

Below are volunteer resources that will be used for the day of simulation. Please review these materials which will be covered in more depth at the training which is held the morning of the student simulation.
