Summer Camp FAQs

What hours and days does camp run?

Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Extended care is available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for an additional $75 per week.

Where are your camps located?

Summer camps are offered at our Portland and Hillsboro campuses and are open to students from surrounding areas. Please note that we are unable to provide accommodations for campers traveling from out of town.

What are the dates and locations of camp?

Week One - Portland facility- June 22 - 26

Week Two - Hillsboro facility - July 6 - 10

Week Three - Portland facility - July 20 - 24

Week Four - Hillsboro facility - August 3 -7

What is the cost of camp?

JA BizTown Summer Camp is $385 per week. Camp with extended care is $460 per week.

How do I register for camp?

Registration is completed online. You will create an account, add your child’s information, complete required forms, and submit your registration. The process typically takes 5–10 minutes. Click here to sign up.

How do I pay for camp? Do I need to pay when I register?

Payment can be made by check, debit, or credit card.

At registration, you may either:

  • Pay in full, or

  • Reserve your spot with a 50% deposit

Full payment is due 30 days prior to the start of camp.

What is your refund policy?

  • Refund policy is:

  • 30+ days before camp: Full refund (minus processing fee)

  • 10–30 days before camp: 50% refund

  • Less than 10 days before camp: No refund

Who leads the camp?

JA BizTown camp is led by trained staff and supported by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about working with students. All staff and volunteers have completed background checks (with additional requirements for youth volunteers).

How can I sign up to volunteer for JA BizTown Summer Camp?

We welcome volunteers ages 16 and older. Adult volunteers complete a background check. High school volunteers (ages 16–17) must provide two letters of recommendation from non-family members.

We encourage volunteers to commit to the full week (8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.), but we appreciate any time you can give.

Are there benefits for volunteers?

Yes! Campers attending with a volunteer receive:

  • 50% off camp fees for full-week volunteers

  • 10% off for each individual day volunteered

I can’t volunteer nor can a family member, do you offer other scholarships or reduced fees?

We occasionally offer need-based financial assistance, though funding is limited and not guaranteed. Please contact us with your requested camp week and information about your needs, and we will follow up if assistance becomes available.

Do I need to sign my child in and out each day?

Yes. Campers must be signed in and out daily by a parent/guardian or an authorized adult.

Can someone else pick up my child?

Yes. Additional authorized adults can be added in advance. Please include all authorized pick-up individuals, including parents, during registration. If you need to add someone during the week of camp, email JA staff ahead of time. All authorized adults must show a photo ID at pick-up each day to ensure camper safety. Please allow extra time on Monday’s pick-up, as it may take a bit longer..

Should campers bring lunch and snacks?

Yes. Campers should bring a lunch each day and are welcome to bring additional snacks. An afternoon snack is provided daily. Lunch is provided for all campers on Friday—please include any dietary needs during registration.

What should my child wear to camp?

Campers should dress comfortably and in layers, as indoor temperatures may vary. Closed-toe shoes are recommended. Please avoid flip flops, short skirts, and overly revealing clothing. While this is an academic camp, students may participate in active games or sit on the floor.
