Prepare Your Students

JA BizTown begins in your classroom. The lessons students complete before their visit are an important part of preparing them for their day in the JA BizTown community.

Use these resources to:

  • Access your teacher curriculum

  • Prepare students for their jobs and responsibilities

  • Help students understand how businesses operate

  • Prepare students to make decisions during the simulation

  • Complete student BizPrep packets and other required activities

Get Ready for Simulation Day

Simulation day is when all the classroom learning comes to life!

Students will arrive at JA BizTown ready to become employees, business owners, consumers, and community members. A little preparation ahead of time will help the day run smoothly.

Before You Arrive

Be sure to:

  • Recruit and confirm your volunteers

  • Complete the required classroom lessons

  • Ensure students completed all pages of their BizPrep packets

  • Ensure students completed their money trackers

  • Put completed money trackers and bizprep packets in manila envelops. Label each with business name.

  • Review the simulation day schedule and expectations

  • Make sure students know what to bring—and what to leave at home - they only need their lunches and water bottles. No backpacks needed.

  • Dress -

Volunteers Make JA BizTown Possible

Each JA BizTown simulation requires 23–38 volunteers to help students successfully operate the businesses.

Volunteers serve as business coaches and work with small groups of students throughout the simulation. They do not need to be business experts—JA provides the training and resources they need to be successful.

Please begin recruiting volunteers early! If you need assistance with volunteer recruitment, contact your JA Site Manager at least 60 days before your simulation date.
