With the passage of Oregon Senate Bill 3 and the adoption of new Personal Finance Education and Higher Education and Career Pathskills Standards, schools across Oregon are preparing to expand financial literacy and career exploration instruction for high school students.

Junior Achievement provides ready-to-use curriculum and implementation support to help educators confidently meet these new requirements.

JA Financial Literacy

JA Financial Literacy is a comprehensive, one-semester, teacher-led course that fully aligns with Oregon’s new Personal Finance Education Standards. This program provides students with foundational personal finance knowledge and practical skills they can apply throughout their lives.

Students learn how to:

  • Earn and save money

  • Create and manage a budget

  • Make informed consumer decisions

  • Use bank accounts, credit, and investments responsibly

  • Understand insurance and risk management

  • Recognize and respond to financial challenges such as debt and identity theft

The course also includes optional experiential learning opportunities through:

  • JA Finance Park Virtual Simulation

  • JA Stock Market Real-Time Simulation

Volunteers can further enhance learning through guest speaking, coaching, mentoring, and project support.

Program Length:
Full semester course with 45- or 90-minute lessons

Free to schools when utilizing all digital instructional materials
