Volunteer in Finance Park
JA Finance Park is an immersive, one-day experience that gives middle and high school students the opportunity to put personal finance skills into practice.
Before arriving at JA Finance Park, students complete classroom lessons focused on budgeting, saving, spending, careers, and personal financial decision-making. Then, during their visit, students receive an iPad with a fictional personal profile that includes information about their career, income, family, education, and financial responsibilities.
Their challenge? Create a monthly budget, make real-life financial decisions, and see if they can make it all work!
What Do JA Finance Park Volunteers Do?
Volunteers are assigned to a small group of approximately 6–8 students and stay with the same group throughout the simulation.
As a volunteer, you'll help students navigate their financial scenario, encourage them to think through their choices, answer questions, and guide conversations about the trade-offs that come with managing money and making lifestyle decisions.
You don't need to be a financial expert or educator. Your own life and work experiences make you a valuable role model for students. JA provides the training, materials, and support you'll need to have a successful day.
How Much Time Does It Take?
JA Finance Park is designed to be a one-day volunteer experience.
Before simulation day: Review the volunteer details, FAQs and logistics information.
Simulation day: Arrive 90 minutes before students for JA-led training and orientation.
During the simulation: Spend the day working directly with your group of students alongside JA staff.
Total commitment: Approximately 6 hours on simulation day, plus the short online review.
What are the Volunteer Requirements?

Who Can Volunteer?
JA Finance Park volunteers come from all kinds of backgrounds—business professionals, college students, retirees, parents, and community members.
You don't have to work in finance to volunteer! Whether you're an accountant, entrepreneur, teacher, healthcare professional, tradesperson, student, or simply someone who has learned a few things about managing money along the way, your experiences can help students connect what they're learning in the classroom to the real world.
